Italy's first and one of the foremost in Europe as far as a new generation of "Science Museums" is concerned, based on interactivity and the direct involvement of the general public.
The "Science Center" of City of Science is situated in Bagnoli, in a splendid natural scenario, in the West of the town on the charming coast between Posillipo and Nisida, overlooking the sea and housed in an early 18th century restored factory.
In its 12,000 square meters packed with exhibitions, interactive and multimedia exhibitions, games and scientific and technological curiosities, the visitor is plunged into an interactive experience surrounded by the wonders of science and technology.
A journey in time starts in the "Science Gym" (Palestra della Scienza), amidst instruments of communication, then goes on to the adventures of evolution.
The "Planetarium", one of the most innovative in Italy, guides the visitor in a voyage of discovery of the stars, the planets and the galaxies.
"Signs Symbols and Signals", the tale of humanity's journey and its need to continue to improve communication make to the utmost.
BIT, the City of Science's virtual puppet, takes children into the Children's Workshop ("Officina dei Piccoli"), one of the leading children's Museums in Italy, where science becomes a game that allows for invention, exploration and discovery.
"From phenomena to certainties" - An area dedicated entirely to classical science; the natural phenomena of phisics, of chemistry, of Earth sciences, reproduced and observed through a wide collection of stimulating and fun interactive mechanical and multimedia games.
"Nature between order and chaos" - A journey through time, space and the complexities of the world around us; an exhibition where we can get close to the new analytical instruments of contemporary science, which are increasingly capable of interpreting many phenomena and their causes.
"The adventure of evolution" - The never-ending story of evolution of the human species told through laboratory activities of interactive experiences, multimedia and audiovisual equipment, archaeological displays and observation instruments.
"The sky show" - One of the largest and technologically advanced in Italy, the Planetarium reproduces, under this immense dome, 7.000 stars, the celestial objects visible to the neked eye, and the principal constellations. The experience leads the visitors through a fascinating night-time journey under the star-filled sky into the immense infinity.
SIGNS SYMBOLS SIGNALS
"Communicating today" - An exhibition dedicated to the instruments and precesses of communication in human activities. Writing, printing, the telegraph, the telephone, the radio, the television, the fax machine, computers, data networks: visitors learn about their history and a future scenario.
"Worlds to explore, behaviours to invent" - A large space dedicated entirely to youger visitors, where they can play with their sense mechanisms, learnig while having fun, using lights, sounds and colours in the company of other children.
THE ROOM OF MARVELS
A rich collection of objects belonging to the medical doctor and natural scientist Emilio Bologna introduces us to curiosities and information about the environment in the Phlegraean Region in the early 1900s.
"Instruments of the past" - Antique physics instruments dating back to the 1700s.
HANDS AND MIND
Laboratories to design and make handicrafts, using working methods which respect the environment; an explanatory journey aimed at offering visitors a map of the memories of the culture of materials.
GNAM: SCIENCE AND NUTRITION
Many questions and many answers on nutrition; an explanatory journey using many experiments and interactive demonstrations to encourage a critical approach on the part of the consumer, to improve our understanding on the astronomic differences between different cultures as well as on eco-compatible production and the quality of the produce.

From the Piazza Amedeo Station take line 2 on the subway, in the direction of Pozzuoli, and get off in Campi Flegrei (third stop); proceed by bus from Campi Flegrei Station n° C9 and get off at Science City stop: the City of Science is in Via Coroglio 104.
